Tompkins Wake welcomes a new partner to the team today – Liz Lim, who is widely regarded as one of New Zealand’s top banking and finance lawyers.

Liz has more than 15 years’ New Zealand and international experience acting for originators, borrowers, funders and trustees. Prior to joining Tompkins Wake, Liz was with Bell Gully, Auckland, and Allen & Overy, London.

Liz is recognised by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2018 as a lawyer who “consistently delivers strong and clear advice”. She is ranked as a recognised practitioner for banking and finance in Chambers Asia Pacific 2018 and was the only New Zealand lawyer shortlisted for a Rising Star award in Euromoney Legal Media Group’s Asia Women in Business Law Awards 2016.

“Over the past decade, Tompkins Wake has continued to grow and invest in building a team of exceptionally talented people focused on specialisation and expertise, so we’re thrilled that Liz has joined our team,” Tompkins Wake chief executive Jon Calder said.

“Liz helps her clients achieve the outcomes they want by providing excellent service while being accessible, reliable and easy for clients to deal with – all things that we, here at Tompkins Wake – strive for every day.”

Liz’s partnership takes the number of partners at Tompkins Wake to 20; eight of those are women.

Tompkins Wake chair and corporate partner Phil Taylor said: “Liz deepens our specialist banking and finance expertise as we continue to grow in order to meet the increasingly complex and sophisticated challenges that our clients present to us”.

Liz said she is excited to join Tompkins Wake.

“I’m attracted to Tompkins Wake’s culture and values, especially its people focus. The firm works collaboratively, takes an innovative approach to things and has a great focus on providing excellent client service. I look forward to being part of the team.”
