Karla joined Tompkins Wake in 2017 and is a Senior Solicitor in our Disputes Resolution and Litigation team based in Rotorua. Karla has specialist knowledge and experience in family and criminal law.  Prior to joining Tompkins Wake, Karla worked in the local government sector with the Rotorua Lakes Council in the Kaupapa Maori Unit with a primary focus on Iwi engagement and relationships.

During her time with the Rotorua Lakes Council, Karla was given the opportunity to manage the Te Arawa partnership project which resulted in the successful establishment of Te Tatau o te Arawa Board.

In her role as Iwi Land Transfer Project Manager, Karla was able to assist in the transfer of various Te Arawa land back to Te Arawa in accordance with Treaty settlement legislation and in the spirit of good will and partnership that the Rotorua Lakes Council committed to when initiating the Te Arawa partnership journey.
